8A-Solving the Problem
The opportunity I chose to discuss was the issue of cleanliness in the dormitories at the University of Florida. This problem is not due to the lack of cleaning, but the age of the buildings. A solution to this issue would be to renovate the old dorm buildings, but that is extremely expensive. So, the issue is getting the money to fund this project. My solution to this problem would be to start a series of fundraisers for dorm renovations. This would help raise money and also show the university faculty that this is an issue people are passionate about. It would raise awareness around campus and not only benefit students, but also the university. With newly renovated dorms it would mean more incoming students would want to live on campus, which would generate more revenue for the school. These renovations need to be done for the health and safety of its residents and in the end it will also benefit the school.

7A Testing the Hypothesis pt 1
1.) Dormitories at the University of Florida
2.) The Dormitories at the University of Florida are not up to date with the cleanliness that they should be. This situation has arose because of the age of the buildings.
3.) - Does everyone living in dorms at the University of Florida feel this need?
- Does every dorm need to be renovated or just specific ones?
- Is the reason for the lack of renovations because the university cannot afford that much
of an expense at this time?
4.) After interviewing five people I came to many conclusions. The first being that this is not the situation for everyone living in dorms at UF, but it is for many. The students living in the newer dorms on campus said they do not feel that they need to be renovated, but that is because the dorms they reside in are much newer than most of the others. The students living in older dorms said that they definitely thought that they needed to be renovated for the health and comfort of those living there. Many of the students in both old and new dorms thought that the expense is a very possible reason that they weren't currently renovating dormitories.

Identifying Opportunities in Economic and Regulatory Trends
Opportunity #1.) Unemployment and its effects on the economy
a.) Source-Forbes (The Ugly Side to Today's Low Employment Rate), Online Magazine
b.) The information in the article suggests that there are many factors that lead to unemployment, which has a direct impact on the economy. It is also argued that the lack of jobs in this country may not be the underling issue, but the lack of skills to complete the jobs is the problem.
c.)The individuals who would benefit from these changes include those who are unemployed and also the employers looking for well trained employees.
d.) Since the issue is really lack of training this could be an issue with a simple fix. If there were programs that were developed to train employees in these skills that would greatly decrease the unemployment rate and help the economy to thrive.
I personally believe that everyone should be given equal opportunities for jobs and have a chance to make a living. This is what I have grown up believing and that is why I believe these training programs would greatly benefit those individuals in need of a source of income.
Opportunity #2.) Unequal Educational Opportunities effect on the economy
a.) Source- Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (Improving Economic Opportunity in the United States), Website
b.) This website shares some issues occurring in todays economic system and points out some interesting points related to unequal educational opportunities and how is effect our economy. This is one of the many factors that are causing problems for our economy.
c.) This mainly effects students who want to further their education, but are unable to do so because of their economic status. This also effects the parents of these students who cannot help their children with the finances to further education.
d.) This is a more difficult issue to solve. There have already been many efforts to try and reduce this inequality, but it is still a prevalent issue.
Growing up education was always a very high priority in my family. School came before most activities and from a young age I knew I wanted to further my education and go to college. That is why I believe something can and should be done for those who do not have opportunities like I have had. Many people dream of going to college and furthering their education, so helping these individuals should be a priority. Also, having a more people go to college will help them get jobs and in turn will be good for the economy.
Opportunity #3.) Federal Open Market Committee Policy
a.) Source-Peterson Institute for International Economics (The Fed's Policy Implementation Framework), Website

c.) This will help taxpayers by saving them money and help keeping their payment systems safe. So, taxpayers would be our prototypical customers.
d.)This is not something that is going to be simple to exploit. There are many steps involved in changing policies, so putting this into place is going to take much time and effort.
This is something that will help taxpayers and also help many people save money and keep payment systems safe. This policy will benefit tax payers in multiple ways and if something is good for most of society then I believe it should be implemented. If this policy is put into place it will help lower the cost of taxes and in turn help everyone who is paying taxes.
Opportunity #4.) Tariff and Trade Policies
a.)Source-Business News Daily (Tariffs and Trade Policies), Online Newspaper
b.)In this article it claims that the new tariff and trade policies will possibly be put into place and could potentially have negative effects on many businesses. This may have even bigger effects on small business, so they need to begin to prepare in case this does happen.
c.) Small business owners are in need of a solution to these new policies if they are put into place. So, they would be considered the prototypical customers.
d.) This is going to be a difficult opportunity to exploit. It will be difficult due to the magnitude of taking a problem like this on. It involves not only this country, but also many other countries and will not be a simple fix.
My father has owned his own small business since I was young and it is extremely important to him and our family. So, I see this as an issue because I believe that small businesses are important to individuals and society.

Forming an Opportunity Belief
1.) The dorms at the University of Florida are not as sanitary as they could be. This specifically includes the air conditioners and the overall maintenance of the facilities.
2.) There are many things that could be done to these dorm buildings that could help the residents that live there. These issue effect the residents and their parents, who are more than likely paying for these accommodations. This has been an issue at the university for some time now since most of the dorm buildings are getting older. The university does hire a great cleaning staff that does their best to keep these dorms clean, but these issues are beyond what they can control. I am about 90% sure that the university will recognize these issues and find solutions to them. It may not be anytime soon, but it should eventually happen.
3,4,5,6.)
Customer #1- student 1 living in dorm on campus
This student thought this need was very relevant to the University of Florida. She also said that this need becomes most apparent when she begins to feel sick due to the air conditions in the room and that it has been occurring since she moved in, which was fall of 2018. There is not much this student can do about this situation except try and adjust the temperature in the room, which is difficult to do since it gets humid if the unit is put to a higher temperature. This student is not satisfied with this solution and thinks new air conditioning units would greatly benefit the students living in these facilities.
Customer #2- parent of student living in dorm on campus
The parent of this student thought this need was extremely relevant when their child comes to them with complaints regarding their living conditions that range from bad air conditioning units to cleanliness of the bathrooms throughout the weekend. This parent claimed that their child has some issues in regards to their dorm at least once a week and this has been going on for about 4 months now. Unfortunately, there is nothing this parent can do about this situation except be positive to their student when discussing the issue. The parent is not satisfied with this solution.
Customer #3-student 2 living in dorm on campus
Student number two said that the main cause of this issue is the age of the building. This student said she experienced this issue since she moved in, which was also in fall of 2018. It was said that the main issue is all the mold in the showers and in the air conditioning unit. She is not currently addressing this issue because she feels there is nothing she can do about it and is not satisfied with her living conditions.
7.) After hearing all the feedback from potential customers there still seems to be a great need dorm renovations at the University of Florida. Now that this research has been done to see if others also agree with this issue, it is safe to say that this is still an accurate need on campus. Though the university may not be able to fund renovations right now, it should be something they should consider in the near future. By renovating the dorms it will cause future students to want to live on campus, which will be beneficial for the school.

Entrepreneurship Story
When I was a young child my dad decided to start up his own business. Even though he already had a steady job he has always been passionate about being outside and specifically being out on the water. So, my dad decided to start up his own chartering business on top of his current job. Since we live on the water he has easy access to his boat and fishing supplies, which made his startup process easier. He created a website for his business and his chartering services also spread quickly through word of mouth because he grew up in that area and is well known around the community. Before he knew it he had many steady customers and his charters will get booked so quickly that he puts people on a waitlist for cancellations. All this success grew from his passion of being on the water and his motivated personality.
I enrolled in ENT3003 because I was excited to learn some of the key aspects of entrepreneurship and further my knowledge on this topic. I hope that by the time this class is over I will have a greater understanding of entrepreneurs and how they formulate their new ides and apply them in the real world.

Although these "bugs" seem like they would be easy to think of that is not necessarily true. It is not so easy to think of these issues unless you actually experience them. That is why it was much easier to write this list over a series of a few days rather than to sit and write them all at once.
Why- A possible reason for these issues may be because the university cannot afford to renovate the dorm buildings.
