16-A

1.)  The first thing that I think makes me different is my persistence. This is something I have had from a young age and it has been something that has stuck with me all my life.
2.)  The second thing is how much I care about my family and how loyal I am to them. I would do anything for them, and I will always be there for them.
3.)  The third is my curiosity. I always ask a lot of questions and that is how I have always been. I want to know why things work, which is why I ask so many questions.
4.)   I also like to say that I am forgiving. I tend to not hold grudges over trivial matters and try my hardest to see the other persons perspective.
5.)  I also like to think that I am enjoyable to be around. I love being around people and am friendly when I meet new people.

In the first interview, my close friend Millie, explains some characteristics that she feels I embody. One of those being a good leader and the other being someone who listens to her when she needs someone to talk to.

In the second interview, my friend Jocelyn, believes I am empathetic and unique. These are two traits that I am flattered to be associated with.

In the third interview, Sophie said that I am funny and reliable. These are two characteristics that I value in myself.

In Daryn's interview she says I am always there to talk to her when she needs me. I am glad that she feels this way because it is something I strive to do.

In the last interview Jake describes how he believes I am there when he needs me. After hearing what he had to say it made me glad to know that is how he feels.

After interviewing my five close friends I would say that overall what I had to say about myself and what others said about me was about the same. There were a few discrepancies between the two, but for the most part it was the same. It made me glad to know that how I view myself and how others view me are the same. I also enjoyed hearing how others feel and think I benefitted greatly from this assignment.

15A-Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.2

The problem I chose to try and solve was the need for renovation of many of the dormitories at the University of Florida.  My last group of interviewees said that the main issue they were having with the older dorms was the air conditioning units. Two of them said that they would just talk to their friends and family about it and one of them said that they contacted housing to have the air filter changed multiple times. They also said that they would be willing to pay a bit more for new air conditioning units, but since they are moving out soon they would not pay much more, which made me realize my target market would be incoming students.  So, many incoming students tend to chose to live in dorms for the connivence and to make the transition to college life easier, but if these dorms are run down the odds of students living in them will go down. If students aren't comfortable in dorms they are not going to give positive reviews to incoming students and they will not want to live in dorms themselves the following years. The living conditions are why they make these conclusions.  After interviewing three incoming students they said that they would be willing to pay a little more for dorm rooms if they were renovated.  There is not much that these incoming students can do about the living conditions, but if they are willing to pay more for more comfortable rooms then they will give positive reviews and increase the number of students who live on campus in years to come.

14A-Halfway Reflection

1.)  One of the behaviors I used during my time in this class was attentiveness. In this class their are multiple assignments due each week so you have to pay close attention to when they are due. This is a key behavior needed for this class. Also, perseverance is an important trait to have or learn during your time in this class.
2.)  There have been a few times throughout this semester where I have felt like giving up. One time specifically was my elevator pitch. I kept practicing it over and over, but could not quite seem to get it down. After many practice runs I finally got it down and completed the assignment. I believe I had a very tenacious attitude during that time and throughout the course.
3.) 1- Be attentive and don't give up easily on your assignments. 2- Even if an assignment seems long and grueling don't give up. Develop a tenacious mindset and you will fly through your assignments. 3- Do your best in each assignment so you can get the most out of this class, In the end this class will help you better educate yourself.

13A-Reading Reflection1

1.) I read the book Miracles Happen about Mary Kay Ash. I think what shocked me the most about her and her life was how much she struggled. I know the brand Mary Kay because I know my mom has used the products at some point, but I did not realize the history behind the company. I admired that no matter how bad the circumstances were Mary Kay did not give up her goals. It was upsetting to read about how she blamed herself after her first marriage ended, but she did come back from it and was successful. Mary Kay encountered many struggles and failures. She was married 3 times and had many issues in the work place because she was a woman and did not get promotions like her male coworkers did. She persevered and became successful because of how hard she worked for herself and her three children.
2.) Mary Kay showed many people that she was competent and able to care for herself. She was able to provide for herself and her children and became a successful business woman in the process.
3.) On page 53 in the book I was a little confused because she said, " For almost a year, I felt that I had failed as a woman, as a wife, and as a person." This confused me because she is such a strong independent woman and hearing that she felt this way surprised me.
4.) "How did you continue to preserver throughout your struggles?" "If you could go back in time is there anything you would change about your life?" These are the two questions I would ask Mary Kay.
5.) I think Mary Kay's definition of hard work would be someone who perseveres through the rough times and does not give up. If there are obstacles this person would find a way around them instead of giving up. I agree and think this is a great definition of hard work.

12A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1

Since my opportunity is renovating dormitories on the University of Florida campus, I decided that my segment would be any students living in dorms on campus that have not been renovated in the past five years. After interviewing three potential customers that fit this criteria, I obtained a lot of information that revealed when, how, and where this need occurred. The individuals I interviewed all said that this has been a need since they moved into their dorms. Two of the interviewees said their main concern was the air conditioning units and how they believed it has been making them sick all through the year. The other one said just the overall age of the buildings concerned her.  One of the interviewees said that she contacted the housing services to come and change her air filter, but instead of giving her a new one they just used a different one from someone else's room. The other two said that the only thing they did was talk to their friends about the issue and many of them were experiencing the same problems. All three of them felt that there was not much they could do about the situation since so many people were having the same problem and nothing was being done about it. Based off of the interviews I think that all of the interviewees were very aware of this need and want something to be done about it. Although, they did not look too deeply into what could be done about it, they all knew it was a problem that needed to be resolved.

11A Idea Napkin

1.)  I am a student at the University of Florida who is currently living in one of the dorm buildings on campus. With my business idea involving the dormitories at the university that gives me personal experience that some other students at this school do not have. I know what it is like to live in these facilities and would like to do what I can to make it better for incoming students.

2.) I am offering to my potential customers  better living arrangements. I want to start fundraisers to help with something small like new air conditioning units in one of the dormitories. By doing this I hope to help those residents, but also raise awareness and hopefully help the University of Florida realize that this is an issue that needs to be resolved.

3.) All of my potential customers will be University of Florida students living in dorms on campus. The majority of these students will be freshman and this will be their first year going to this school. They want and need a place where they will feel safe and secure because the first year of college is a huge transition for these students. The parents of these students will also want them to feel safe and comfortable in their new environment.

4.) Customers will care because these incoming students will be the ones living in these facilities for the next year of their life. These students and mostly their parents will want them to be as comfortable as possible and will be willing to donate to help renovate the dorms.

5.) My personal experience of living in these facilitates are what sets me apart from others who may want to help. The faculty who make the decisions about housing and renovations have probably never lived in one of these buildings in the last ten years and do not see what it it like and how it can be improved. Whereas, a student who has been living in these buildings does understand the need and concern for renovations.

I believe that these ideas all work together to create a plan to help incoming students and also the University of Florida. There are details of the plan that need to be worked out, but the overall plan is set to help meet this need. If this plan in put into place it should help both the students and the university and at the very least it will spread awareness of this issue. The goal is to implement these practices and help both parties.

9A Testing the Hypothesis part 2

Who-  The opportunity I chose was the dormitories at the University of Florida. Although, there are many students at this school not all of them fall inside these boundaries. The majority of students attending this school do not live in dormitories and some of them do not even live within the state of Florida. So, the only people in this category would be current students living in on campus dorms and incoming students who plan to live in dorms next fall. I realized this after interviewing the students who attend this school, but do not live in dorms. They did not express much interest in this topic and I realized that they really have no reason to because it does not concern them in any way.

What-  The problem is not that students living in dorms are just being picky about their living situations. It is a matter of keeping these students healthy in their living environment, where students living off campus don't have this concern with the university. When I was interviewing the students who did live in dormitories on campus this was all of their main concerns.

Why-  The needs of the students inside and outside the boundaries are different. Although students living in off campus housing may have issues with their living arrangements it is not the universities responsibility, whereas it is the universities responsibility for the students living on campus.

Inside the Boundaries                                                                     Outside the Boundaries

Who- Students living on campus                                        Who- Students living off campus/online

What- Dorm renovations                                                   What-  To expect students living off                                                                                                         campus to be concerned with this issue

Why- Health concerns for students                                   Why- Comfort of students living on campus
