Entrepreneurship Story

When I was a young child my dad decided to start up his own business. Even though he already had a steady job he has always been passionate about being outside and specifically being out on the water. So, my dad decided to start up his own chartering business on top of his current job. Since we live on the water he has easy access to his boat and fishing supplies, which made his startup process easier. He created a website for his business and his chartering services also spread quickly through word of mouth because he grew up in that area and is well known around the community. Before he knew it he had many steady customers and his charters will get booked so quickly that he puts people on a waitlist for cancellations.  All this success grew from his passion of being on the water and his motivated personality.

I enrolled in ENT3003 because I was excited to learn some of the key aspects of entrepreneurship and further my knowledge on this topic. I hope that by the time this class is over I will have a greater understanding of entrepreneurs and how they formulate their new ides and apply them in the real world.

  1. Madelyn, it is so cool you have an entrepreneur in the family! I am sure you already know, but that gives you a great head start should you ever decide to start your own passion project. My one suggestion is that you should put your dad's business' website or contact info in this post. I am sure there are a lot of people in this class who have considered a chartering a boat.

  2. Madelyn, it must be pretty amazing having your dad being an entrepreneur. I'm sure he thinks its pretty cool your taking a class on it. I also enrolled in ENT3003 for the same reasons as you. My one suggestion is that you put an entrepreneurship story where you were also involved. Otherwise,
    I believe you did great.

  3. Madelyn, I think it's pretty awesome that you have a kind of inside look at entrepreneurship and you probably already have a good understanding about what it takes to build a successful business, like your dad's. I hope this class is all you expect it to be and you get what you want out of it!

  4. I really enjoyed reading your entrepreneurship story. I think it is so awesome that your dad was able to make a business out of his passion for being outdoors and out on the water. It is rare that we hear people making money doing something that they absolutely love and I think that is a major problem with our world today.
