1.) Dormitories at the University of Florida
2.) The Dormitories at the University of Florida are not up to date with the cleanliness that they should be. This situation has arose because of the age of the buildings.
3.) - Does everyone living in dorms at the University of Florida feel this need?
- Does every dorm need to be renovated or just specific ones?
- Is the reason for the lack of renovations because the university cannot afford that much
of an expense at this time?
4.) After interviewing five people I came to many conclusions. The first being that this is not the situation for everyone living in dorms at UF, but it is for many. The students living in the newer dorms on campus said they do not feel that they need to be renovated, but that is because the dorms they reside in are much newer than most of the others. The students living in older dorms said that they definitely thought that they needed to be renovated for the health and comfort of those living there. Many of the students in both old and new dorms thought that the expense is a very possible reason that they weren't currently renovating dormitories.
So it seems as though there is an opportunity for specific dorms on campus. This is useful information, because you can assess the needs of each specific dorm to address the issue. However, what was it about the older dorms that people complained about? Was there mold, breaking infrastructure, etc? Perhaps a few more questions need to be asked out in the market to specify exactly what it is about older dorms that seem to be the issue. Maybe complete renovation is not the answer.
ReplyDeleteThe University of Florida has been around for a very long time. Some of its dorms have been here for hundreds of years. As such, renovations are necessary to keep up with the requirements to keep students healthy and comfortable. Your idea should focus on dorms that are older, such as: Murphree, Fletcher, Buckman, Sledd, etc. Since these dorms are much older than most others.
ReplyDeleteMadelyn,
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely an issue at UF. There are so many dorms on campus that are completely out of date and need renovation. It's ridiculous that they can charge so much for a dorm that looks gross but you're stuck with that since the renovated dorms are so much more expensive. Honestly, the off campus housing is much nicer and a lot cheaper but being on campus is a great experience so it's really annoying that the dorm situation kinda sucks.
