12A Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No. 1
Since my opportunity is renovating dormitories on the University of Florida campus, I decided that my segment would be any students living in dorms on campus that have not been renovated in the past five years. After interviewing three potential customers that fit this criteria, I obtained a lot of information that revealed when, how, and where this need occurred. The individuals I interviewed all said that this has been a need since they moved into their dorms. Two of the interviewees said their main concern was the air conditioning units and how they believed it has been making them sick all through the year. The other one said just the overall age of the buildings concerned her. One of the interviewees said that she contacted the housing services to come and change her air filter, but instead of giving her a new one they just used a different one from someone else's room. The other two said that the only thing they did was talk to their friends about the issue and many of them were experiencing the same problems. All three of them felt that there was not much they could do about the situation since so many people were having the same problem and nothing was being done about it. Based off of the interviews I think that all of the interviewees were very aware of this need and want something to be done about it. Although, they did not look too deeply into what could be done about it, they all knew it was a problem that needed to be resolved.

Hi Madelyn! I'm glad you were able to learn so much about your market with these interviews. This puts into perspective just how bad the conditions in the dorms has gotten. Something definitely needs to be done here and I think the need for your service is there. I think it's good that you have some direction as to what to do to address this current issue. Great post!
ReplyDeleteHey Madelyn,
ReplyDeleteI think the people you decided to interview was a great idea since they are currently going through what you are trying to fix. Dorms rooms keep getting worse year after year. So working with what is currently needed is smart. I think its great that you have a direction of where your going. Overall great job.
Hey Madelyn,
ReplyDeleteI think that these interviews really do a great job of describing the true need for dorm updating. The people you interviewed did a good job of giving insight into what the dorms are currently like. A lot of the dorms here at UF are as old as our parents, and I think that a lot of them need changing. For me, I believe that the dorms need to all be switched to suite style. I think students these days would be way more willing to live in the dorms if they were suite style, rather than communal. I think if you can devise a plan to do this, you will be wildly successful.
